An online meeting of the Council of Europe SteeringCommittee on the Rights of the Child was held

On 26 June 2020, a videoconference was held with the participation of experts from member states of the Steering Committee for the Rights of the Child (CDENF).


During the meeting the participants discussed the following topics: the experience and knowledge of the countries regarding adaptation to and fighting against the pandemic, ensuring effective protection of children during the pandemic, protection and strengthening of reporting and appeals, prevention of violence against children and monitoring.


Head of the Apparatus of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Mrs. C. Rahmatullayeva made a speech at the meeting and provided information on social support programs ,implemented in Azerbaijan during COVID-19 pandemic.She also mentioned that measures taken by the state particularly covered vulnerable families and children.
Mrs. Rahmatullayeva emphasized that the development of the "Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Children for 2020-2030"approved by President IlhamAliyev was based on the priorities set out in the "Strategy for the Rights of the Child 2016-2021" adopted by the Council of Europe member States.


She  also pointed out that Internet security, ensuring equal and safe access of children to distance education is currently the main challenge in the field of children's rights for all Europe, and therefore member states should take more steps to improve the global system of Internet security and develop new programs.
