The representatives of the State Committee made a speech in the videoconference

The International videoconference was held on “well-being of children: challenges and risk of a new time” on 21 August 2020. Officials of the central government agencies, international and national experts (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus) attended the event that organized with the technical and expert support of the United Nations Children's Fund.

Mrs. Jamila Bagirova, Head of the Department of Children's Issues of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs made a speech at the event and informed the participants on the priorities of state policy on children`s issues. She gave information that the first convention to which Azerbaijan joined as an independent state was on children's rights. Mrs. J.Bagirova gave detailed information about the measures taken in recent years, including the goals and objectives of the "Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Children for 2020-2030".

She also touched upon the occupation of our territories by Armenian  and mentioned that  the conflict has a significant impact on the psychological, social and economic life of people and leads to an increase in the number of children with disabilities in the region.  She also talked about the approval of the Rules for raising awareness among young people on the importance of the family and marriage, its protection and strengthening, and the negative consequences of early and relative marriages".

During the international video conference, the issues of development of national monitoring systems for children's welfare (child welfare index), a national tool for targeted spending of the state budget for the benefit of children and families (children's budget) were discussed.
