The chairperson of the State Committee met with the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Republic of Azerbaijan

Mrs. Bahar Muradova met with Mrs. Muriel Peneveyre, the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Republic of Azerbaijan and Mr. Alberto Hernandez, the Deputy Ambassador, Deputy Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office for the South Caucasus on July 19, 2020.  

Welcoming the guests, Bahar Muradova noted that Azerbaijan-Switzerland relations are developing steadily. Mrs. Muradova informed about the event she attended in Bern on the occasion of the establishment of the Swiss-Azerbaijani interparliamentary friendship group, which has contributed to the strengthening of bilateral relations over the years, and expressed satisfaction with being the head of the antiparliamentary working group.

Noting the terrorist acts committed by the Armenian armed forces in Ganja, the chairman of the Committee stressed the importance of Mrs. Muriel Peneveyre's representation in the diplomatic corps visiting Ganja after the rocket attack and not being indifferent to such aggression acts.  She appreciated Switzerland's response to the damage caused to civilians as a result of Armenian terrorism.

Mrs. Bahar Muradova also talked about the project "Economic empowerment of women in South Caucasus” organized by the UNDP, the Austria Development Agency and with the financial support of Switzerland.

Mrs. Muriel Peneveyre, expressed her disappointment with the events in Ganja noting that the Swiss government expressed its concern over the current situation and called on both sides to refrain from the use of force. The ambassador highly appreciated the cooperation with the Committee on gender equality and women's empowerment including project "Economic empowerment of women in South Caucasus”.
