The Chairperson of the State Committee met with the newly appointed British Ambassador to Azerbaijan
On October 13, 2022 a meeting was held between Mrs. Bahar Muradova, the Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs and Fergus Auld, newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to our country.
Possibilities and perspectives of cooperation on participation of women in peace-making and security processes, ensuring gender equality and fighting against gender stereotypes were discussed at the meeting aimed at getting acquainted.
Welcoming the guests, Mrs.Bahar Muradova expressed gratitude for the initiative to hold the meeting. She pointed out that the British government supports a number of projects carried out during the reconstruction period, noting that the historical ties between the two countries are currently developing on an ascending line. B. Muradova added that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to bilateral relations and the Committee, in turn, successfully cooperates with the Embassy in accordance with its directions.
The Chairperson of the Committee thanked the UK government for helping people and communities affected by the consequences of the war and for their support in building resilience.She emphasized that in order to support the families of victims, especially women and children, resource centers have been opened in the territories affected by the conflict, and work in this direction continues.
B. Muradova expressed confidence that cooperation will continue in the direction of implementation of projects for demining and participation in the construction of territories, as well as supporting the activities of women in the direction of peace and security.
The Ambassador Fergus Auld, thanking the Chairperson of the Committee for the warm welcome, and noting that one of his main activities in Azerbaijan is the issue of women, children and gender, touched on a number of issues related to women's participation in peace and security towards the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution No. 1325.
He mentioned that he would visit Aghdam within the framework of the Peace and Security Forum and would support the process of de-mining the lands liberated from the occupation.
