A meeting was held with a Public Council regarding the preparation of the fifth and sixth periodic reports on the Convention on the Rights of the Child

On December 5, 2022 a meeting with the Public Council under the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs on preparation of V and VI periodic reports of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child was held in the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.

The Chairperson of the State Committee, Mrs.Bahar Muradova, welcoming the guests, appreciated the two-year activity of the Public Council and noted that a positive experience and useful cooperation had developed.

She said that recommendations of the members of the Public Council are important in preparation of the periodic report.  B. Muradova noted that the purpose of the meeting was to learn the opinion and attitude of the Public Council representing the civil society to the country report prepared by the State Committee.

The Chairman of the Public Council under the Committee, Sahib Mammadov, spoke about the importance of Public Councils in terms of evaluating the activities of state institutions and appreciated the initiative to hold such a meeting before the report. At the same time he analyzed the current situation of assurance of children's rights, voiced problems and shared his views.

The deputy head of the Child Issues Department of the State Committee made a presentation on the preparation of the report on the implementation of the obligations undertaken by Azerbaijan under the "Convention on the Rights of the Child".

She reported that a working group has been formed with the relevant government agencies and the necessary information has been exchanged in order to implement the recommendations arising from the Convention.

She also informed about actions and projects implemented in relation to the implementation of the "Action Plan on Implementation of the Children's Strategy for 2020-2025" and reported that these activities will be reflected in the periodic reports.

In continuation of the meeting a discussion on the topic was held and suggestions and recommendations were listened to.
