Conference on "Protection of people from vulnerable groups affected by domestic violence" ended

On December 7, 2022 the conference organized by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan on "Protection of people from vulnerable groups affected by domestic violence" ended.
A specially designed support program and instructions for the implementation of a special program to support elderly people subjected to domestic violence and persons with disabilities were presented at the conference.
The Chairperson of the State Committee Bahar Muradova welcomed the guests and wished success in the work of the conference. She stressed that holding the event exactly in the month of human rights is not accidental, because domestic violence is not only an urgent social problem, but also a problem that weakens human rights and freedoms.
Representative of the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan, Annalisa Jansanti mentioned that the conference aimed to improve the quality of services provided to elderly people and people with disabilities.
She emphasized the importance of consolidating efforts to eliminate discrimination against people in this groups, keeping proper statistics, developing support mechanisms, taking measures to represent them in decision-making.
The event focused on the creation of a strong legal framework to combat domestic violence, discussion of existing protection mechanisms and their effectiveness. Moreover, the problems were analyzed, recommendations based on international experience were voiced.
In conclusion, suggestions on the topic were heard and questions were answered.
