A new textbook on "Gender Equality" has been published
The textbook "Gender Equality" was prepared by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan in cooperation with the German International Cooperation Society (GİZ) and Baku State University.
The scientific resource is based on Articles 1-2, 7-8, and 10 of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the Council of Europe's Gender Equality Strategy (2018-2023), aimed at the implementation of its 3rd 4th and 6th strategic goals and the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on guarantees of Gender (men and women) equality.
The new textbook covers the concept of gender equality, the history of its creation and provision, international agreements and national legislation in the field of gender discrimination, the emergence of gender stereotypes and methods of combating them, the application of the principle of gender equality in civil service and other topics.
The publication also covers new and interesting topics such as climate change and the COVID-19 virus to ensure gender equality, as well as the impact of the environment on the family and sex ratio, by creating conditions for the wide use of this textbook, it will make its worthy contribution to the promotion of human rights and freedoms in the country.
The textbook was prepared based on international conventions and national legislation, which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a supporter of. The material consisting of 6 chapters is considered suitable for the use of higher education institutions and state bodies.
In terms of the breadth and importance of the issues covered, the resource is a useful source of information for students of higher education institutions in the field of gender equality, civil servants, municipalities, teachers teaching relevant subjects, scientific workers, lawyers, and readers interested in gender issues in public administration in general.
