A training on "Gender Equality in the Republic of Azerbaijan and National Legislation" was held on October 18, 2017, within the framework of the project entitled "Strengthening employment opportunities and professional qualifications of refugees and IDP girls with incomplete education", jointly implemented by the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs (SCFWCA) and UNESCO. The trainees were informed about the concept of "gender equality" and the principle of gender equality reflected in the United Nations Charter (1945) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), as well as in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Further, the trainees were provided with detailed information on the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Guarantees of Gender Equality (men and women) adopted on October 10, 2006. The aim of the training was to teach international and national mechanisms for the protection of women's rights and raise awareness among the population about gender equality. The participants actively participated in the discussions and suggested that the enlightening work on this field would better be carried out on a regular basis. Booklets on "Gender equality and national legislation" were distributed to trainees.
